PolicingTV was recently invited to attend and film at the British Overseas Territories’ Council of Commissioners of Police, held at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in central London.

The film we recorded is introduced by the FCDO’s Law Enforcement Adviser, Andrew Munday. Together with the Home Office and the International Police Assistance Service (IPAS), the FCDO is hosting this Policing Council of twelve British Overseas Territories.

In the heart of this video, we hear from the following policing leaders about the value to them of this Council meeting, plus also hear something about the jurisdiction, including the particular challenges of drugs, firearms maritime security, resilience and more, that they have responsibility for: Alan Horberry, Director of Emergency Services and Island Security for the Falkland Islands; Darrin Simmons, Commissioner of Police, Bermuda Police Service; Mark Collins, Commissioner of Police, Royal Virgin Islands Police; Richard Ullger, Commissioner of Police, Royal Gibraltar Police; Robert Clark, Commissioner of Police, Royal Anguillan Police; Steve Winn, Director of Operations for the Government of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands; Trevor Botting, Commissioner of Police, Turks and Caicos Islands.

Note that Alan Horberry is keen to hear from those interested in taking their policing career to the Falklands – more detail in the video.

The video closes with Vanessa Jardine, Chief Constable of Northumbria Police and NPCC lead on non-Operational International Policing. Vanessa reflects on her role, and on the benefits that this biannual Council meeting brings.
