Detective Inspector Chris Toohey and Altia’s Brice Neilson worked together as part of Queensland Police’s organised crime squad.
Here meeting PolicingTV Founder and Publisher Bernard Rix, they discuss the considerable challenge that tackling organised crime provided in the early 2010s, and the innovative ways they found to tackle those challenges.
Filmed in a windy Bond University on Queensland’s Gold Coast, they describe how a team of some 40 detectives, including Brice early in his policing career, found that innovating, rather than following tried and trusted approaches, produced better results. They also discuss the importance of leadership, and how good and excellent leadership, aligned with strong teamwork, provided an environment in which officers felt supported in trying – and learning from – those innovative approaches.
The video will also resonate with fans and admirers of Australian cricket legend Greg Chappell!
