Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Joy Allen believes some gambling companies are on a par with drug dealers when it comes to targeting those with disorders and addictions, and the resulting harms can often include acquisitive crime; it’s an issue which she hopes the APCC will be able to tackle in partnership with other agencies, as she explained to Policing Insight Publisher Bernard Rix on a recent leg of the Policing Friendship Walking Tour.

Joy Allen was talking to Policing Insight’s Publisher Bernard Rix as part of the Policing Friendship Walking Tour, which is taking Bernard across the British Isles where he is hoping to visit all police forces, before then taking the Tour around the world.

The Tour will also raise awareness and money for policing charities, and those Bernard talks and walks with can nominate a charity of their choice to be supported. As her chosen charity, Ms Allen has nominated SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity that provides lifelong support and advice to the armed forces community, veterans and their families.
