Policing could already benefit from the significant advances available in modern technology, according to Allan Fairley of Accenture UK – but he believes the real barriers to progress are politics and personal agendas, as he explained to Policing Insight Publisher Bernard Rix on a recent leg of the Policing Friendship Walking Tour.

Allan Fairley was talking to Bernard as part of the Policing Friendship Walking Tour, which is taking Bernard across the British Isles where he is hoping to visit all police forces, before then continuing the Tour around the world.

The Tour raises awareness and money for policing charities, and those Bernard talks and walks with can nominate a charity or charities of their choice to be supported. As his chosen charity, Allan has nominated COPS – Care of Police Survivors – a charity that supports the families of police officers and staff who have lost their lives on duty, and also Embrace, which supports children, young people and families who are victims of crime.
