As part of his Policing Friendship Tour, Policing Insight and PolicingTV Founder, Bernard Rix, recently recorded a conversation with Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner, Dean McWhirter, as they walked around Flagstaff Gardens in Melbourne, Australia.

Topics covered included the Assistant Commissioner’s leadership of the Victoria Police provision of evidence to, and response to, the Victorian Government’s 2015 Royal Commission into Family Violence, which made 227 recommendations to reduce the impact of family violence on the Victorian community;
the impact of, and response to, family violence within the police community itself; and the Assistant Commissioner and his team’s work on his Transit and Public Safety portfolio, which encompasses specialist policing support on critical incident response, with overarching responsibility for public order, transport, air, dog, mounted, water, and search and rescue.
