Policing Insight and PolicingTV Publisher Bernard Rix recently met Chief Constable Sir David Thompson QPM LLB DL, for a Policing Friendship Tour walk-and-talk, with West Midlands Police Headquarters and the newly opened West Midlands Police Museum on their chosen route.
Sir David is one of the United Kingdom’s longest serving Chief Constables. He is a Vice Chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), and the NPCC’s lead for the Inclusion and Race Programme Board, as well as the Chair of the Police Heritage Board.
Sir David has announced his plan to retire as West Midlands Chief Constable after the completion of the Commonwealth Games 2022, which will be taking place in Birmingham.
Sir David discusses these topics during the recording, reflects on his time in policing and looks forward to what may lie ahead.
Might he be tempted to apply for the Commissioner vacancy at the Metropolitan Police?
