Without any question whatsoever, this was the wettest Policing Friendship Tour walk-talk-and-film that there has ever been! And there’s now been around 50 Friendship Tours, with the first taking place in Devon some fifteen months ago.

Many congratulations to Fran Hughes,  Chief Executive, Felicity Ridgway  Director of Operations, and  Patrick Phelvin Communications and Engagement Manager of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner Devon, Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly, along with Patrick’s faithful companion Scout, for staying the rain-soaked course: a six mile walk along the Camel Trail between Wadebridge and Padstow in Cornwall.

Despite the soaking, the video we recorded for PolicingTV covered a lot of policing ground – Devon & Cornwall’s aborted merger with Dorset; the inherent challenge of policing a large, geographically elongated force attracting a significant influx of tourists each summer; improving road safety across the force; recruiting a new Chief Constable for the force; and the role of comms in behavioural change. Plus some wonderful – if wet – scenery!
