In this second part of a two part Policing Friendship Tour video, Barbara Spooner MBE meets and speaks with PolicingTV’s Founder and Publisher, Bernard Rix, about her policing career and experiences, how she championed Women, Women of Colour and Gender Equality, her MBE and about her post-policing life leading the work of Digital Safety Community Interest Group (CIC).

Barbara Spooner MBE led and served in Specialist Operations (Human Intelligence) within the national and international policing environment, Territorial Policing and National Serious and Organised Crime for more than 30 years. During this time Barbara was also involved as a national executive lead for Women in Policing.

In 2014 her work was recognised with her being invested as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her outstanding contribution to both leaderships for women in law enforcement, and services to covert intelligence operations. Barbara’s specialist operations work saw her delivering international projects, chairing a covert global task force of 22 countries for five years (including 5 Eyes) and eventually commanding the National Crime Agency Communications Data Unit which included holding a leading role in the UK for implementation of new legislation.

In addition to her work as Managing Director of Digital Safety CIC, Barbara is the Secretary General to the Board of Trustees for the annual World Police Summit in Dubai.

Academically Barbara is a bachelor’s in leadership and Management and holds a postgraduate master’s Certificate in International Policy Development.
