PolicingTV in honour of the many thousands of men and women serving as Volunteer Police Officers around the world have created a Volunteers Week beginning Aug 26th.
Over the last 3 months we have recorded interviews and attended conferences and symposiums around the world pulling together some great insight and amazing contributions from volunteers from across the world
We hear about how volunteers are helping with cold cases, serving along side police officers and even can get paid!
Hosted by the world’s leading expert in Police Volunteering, Dr Iain Britton, we see how Police volunteers play a crucial role in policing organizations worldwide, engaging in a wide range of activities.
These activities include serving as police reserves, auxiliaries, and special constables, working alongside paid police officers. Additionally, volunteers contribute to crime prevention, community safety, victim support, and working with offenders.
There is also a growing trend of volunteers bringing their specialist skills, such as in cyber and digital crime or economic crime, to supplement the paid workforce.
The international community is starting to recognize the value of sharing knowledge and learning from different volunteer models across countries.
We will be seeing the International Volunteering Symposium, hear from the Women In Volunteering Conference as well as interviews with leading advocates and volunteers from around the world.
