The Metropolitan Police’s Special Constabulary (MSC) recently held their inaugural Conference in London’s Docklands. Over 500 volunteer Police Officers (Special Constables and other ranks) attended: they contributed to a day’s active delegate engagement, as well as heard from several distinguished speakers, including
- The Metropolitan Police Service’s (MPS’s) Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley QPM;
- The MSC’s Special Chief Officer, James Deller;
- David Pedrick-Friend, the Chair of the Association of Special Constabulary Officers (ASCO);
- and Dr Iain Britton, the world’s leading academic on volunteer policing.
PolicingTV was granted exclusive media access to the day as the event’s media partners. We recorded conversations during the day with many of the Special Constables and others in attendance, including with MPS Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley.
