As part of his Policing Friendship Tour, Policing Insight and PolicingTV Publisher Bernard Rix recently met Professor Jorge Román, an Expert Advisor to Dubai Police, in Chile, his country of birth. With both Bernard and Jorge in Santiago, Chile, for the International Organised Crime Conference organised by Policía De Investigaciones De Chile (PDI Chile), the conversation began by exploring the multinational nature of the conference – with speakers drawn from Australasia, South America, Europe, North America and the Middle East – and examining the opportunity thus provided for significant sharing of good and excellent policing practice.

The conversation then moves to a discussion of the policing challenges, strengths and opportunities within Chile, including an account from Jorge of the global learning to be drawn from one particularly successful drugs operation led by PDI Chile.
