This presentation by Angelika Hellweger, Legal Director of Rahman Ravelli discusses the use of AI as evidence in criminal proceedings and the challenges it presents. The reliability and integrity of AI-generated evidence are crucial, as inaccurate data can lead to false outcomes and wrongful accusations.

The black box problem, where the inner workings of AI systems are not visible, raises concerns about understanding and evaluating the evidence. The chain of custody is also important in ensuring the authenticity of AI evidence. The technical complexity of AI and the lack of AI expertise make it difficult for defendants to challenge the evidence. Minimum standards, transparency, and training are needed to address these challenges.

Please do note Angelika’s audio has been supplemented by AI generated subtitles as the line was not the best!
