The Australian Institute of Criminology is Australia’s national research and knowledge centre on crime and justice. They seek to promote justice and reduce crime by undertaking and communicating evidence-based research to inform policy and practice.
In this video they introduce some of the areas they have been focussing on, undertaking research into such varied topics as Serious Organised Crime, Cybercrime, deaths in custody and indigenous over representation in the criminal justice system. They outline their compilation of statistics in a wide range of areas and their crime science approach to tackling crime. They also touch on the funding and the dissemination of information they gather.
All of their research is available on line at www.aic.gov.au
