As part of his Policing Friendship Tour, Policing Insight and PolicingTV Publisher Bernard Rix recently visited Edge Hill University in Lancashire, England, to learn more about their Professional Policing degree programme.
Former West Yorkshire Police Chief Superintendent Owen West, now a Senior Lecturer on the Edge Hill University Professional Policing degree programme, introduces us to fellow lecturers and first year students, on the very first day for this year’s intake.
We get to see and hear how those students – many of whom are intending to become police officers in due course – are given a first insight into the very considerable challenges that a policing career offers. We also speak with several students and lecturers, who give us their thoughts on what the degree programme offers.
