Superintendent Paul Daly is the Officer in Charge of the Western Australia Police Force’s (WAPOL’s) Air Wing. In an interview recorded at the Air Wing’s Jandakot base, he tells PolicingTV’s Founder and Publisher, Bernard Rix, about the work of the Air Wing, which has an area to cover of around 2,527,013 square kilometres (975,685 sq miles).
Together with colleagues, he provides PolicingTV with a guided tour around the facilities, available aircraft, and other of the Air Wing’s assets,
Next week we see their approach to drones, “drones-in-a-box”, aeroscopes, plus the mechanisms by which the force can improve its network coverage – mobile groundstations.
Paul also then discusses his Australia-wide Air Wing policy role and the policy-related challenges that fast-developing technology in this area has led to. He invites other jurisdictions outside Australia that are interested in this ground-breaking work to get in touch.
