Detecting explosives, sniffing out drugs, taking down suspects, controlling crowds…. police dogs play a vital role in law enforcement – but their capabilities and potential are sometimes under-valued and little understood.

The World Police Summit in Dubai aimed to remedy that by bringing a range of experts together for a special K9 Conference to discuss strategies for canine handlers and explore the latest innovative canine training techniques.

For the final Dubai edition of ‘Talking Crime’, Policing TV’s Chief Presenter, Danny Shaw, spoke to two police dog specialists – Jay Malley, project manager for the Worldwide K9 Academy in Abu Dhabi, and Pekka Kokonnen, chief of the dog training centre at Police University College in Finland.
