Suffolk Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Tim Passmore, recently spoke to PolicingTV’s Bernard Rix about work going on in force to improve the service to the public, with a focus on call and contact handling.
“There’s nothing more frustrating than people ringing up any call centre, going in a queue for half an hour, and then people just ring off.”
“We took the decision last year… an investment of 1.4 million pounds in to the control room, and what that will deliver – apart from some better technology – is an extra twenty seven call operators, and four extra police officers in a supervisory role there.”
On wider investments, for example… “The Sentinel teams, highly trained, highly equipped, with all the latest gear and technology including firearms, ANPR. They go after hardened criminals, criminal gangs that have been a threat to Suffolk.”
“Another example would be dealing with anti-social behaviour, what we call the Kestrel teams… they are problem-solvers for neighbourhood crimes.”
Tim also talks a little about his lifelong passion for good, leaf tea!
