Policing Insight and PolicingTV Publisher Bernard Rix recently met Alison Lowe OBE, the West Yorkshire Deputy Mayor who provides force direction, oversight and governance for West Yorkshire Police.
Starting from Force Headquarters and walking round Wakefield, Alison covers a number of her relevant life experiences, including her being elected as the first black woman Leeds City councillor. They also discuss: motivation and morale in policing, and the use of food banks by police officers; the Race Action Plan drawn up by the College of Policing and the National Police Chiefs’ Council; and the importance of community and neighbourhood policing.
