Trevor Botting is a former UK Sussex Police senior officer, former Chief of Police at the Saint Helena Police Force, and former Commissioner at the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police and has been exploring for PolicingTV the people involved in the policing of the British Overseas Territories.

In this video he chats with Chief Inspector Lydia Davenport who has over 20 years experience with North Yorkshire Police, not the first role you would think of in terms of International exposure.

However Lydia has also worked globally, supporting the British Overseas Territories with the UK Home Office as part of the International Capabilities Team, as a lecturer for Police and Security in the UAE and currently Technical Program Manager for Childlight the Global Child Safety Institute.

Lydia shares her extensive career in policing, focusing on her journey within North Yorkshire Police and her passion for child protection.

She discusses the challenges faced in child safeguarding, the impact of traumatic cases on officers, and the need for better support systems.

Lydia also reflects on the importance of leadership and the potential for bringing in external talent to enhance policing effectiveness.
