Simon Bailey CBE QPM DL was a police officer for 35 years, the last eight as the Chief Constable of Norfolk Constabulary. Simon was also the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) lead for child protection, during which time he led the law enforcement response to online threats and the investigation of non-recent child sexual exploitation.

Since retiring as a police officer in 2021, he has continued to pursue his passion for safeguarding and has a wide-ranging portfolio of responsibilities in the child protection arena. These include his work with the US-based Child Rescue Coalition, and his membership of the UK’s National Safeguarding Practice Review Panel. He also chairs the charity Embrace Child Victims of Crime, and the Police Institute for the Eastern Region (PIER).

In a three part conversation recorded in Thetford Forest, Norfolk, England with PolicingTV Founder, Bernard Rix, Simon talks about his policing career to date, plus his current work on child protection. He also shares his thoughts on the three key steps that could greatly improve child protection globally.

This first video focuses on Simon’s policing career to date.
