Building Trust Through Transformation
From Review and Reform to Reality: Embedding Excellence in Police Vetting

19-20 May 2025 Crowne Plaza, Stratford upon Avon

The 2025 National Police Vetting Symposium marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing transformation of vetting practices across the UK. Building on the HMICFRS vetting, misconduct and misogyny report recommendations, and the initial implementation of the Angiolini Part one recommendations, which have laid the foundations for reform, this two-day event brings together vetting practitioners, policy makers, and stakeholders to evaluate progress and shape the future of police vetting.

The symposium will explore how the first year of reforms has reshaped the vetting landscape and examine the cultural shifts necessary to establish a robust, transparent, and public-focused vetting regime. Through interactive sessions, keynote presentations, and collaborative opportunities, delegates will share insights, challenges, and best practices in embedding the new APP guidelines and creating a vetting culture where responsibility is shared across all levels of policing.

Key themes will include:

  • Evaluating the impact of year one reforms
  • Strengthening public safety through enhanced vetting processes
  • Building a culture of collective responsibility
  • Advancing (Enriching) professional standards in vetting
  • Implementing technological innovations in vetting procedures
  • Ensuring consistency and excellence across forces
