The Catalyst Building, Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 2DF
Fri 22nd March 2024

Staffordshire University in partnership with Warwickshire Police welcomes you to a day of (pr)academic debate and discussion on the contemporary challenges of Police Leadership.

(UK) Policing is arguably passing through one of the most significant periods in its long history. In recent years, claims of racism, misogyny and institutional bias have arguably ‘eroded public confidence’[1] in a key civic institution. Amid questions of policing legitimacy, the service seeks to reform, through a greater focus on standards and professionalisation in a bid to perhaps rebuild relationships with the communities it serves. But how are these measures being met and what are leadership challenges that policing in 2024 and beyond faces?

Join us for a day of thought-provoking debate and discussion on these subject areas. The conference will also focus on:

  • Police Leadership
  • Police Legitimacy
  • Public Trust & Confidence.
  • Institutional Bias.
  • Evidence Based Policing
  • Police Reform & Police Education
