Welcome to the Evidence in Action: Advancing Policing Practices conference in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
The goals of this conference are to provide police and public safety officers, police leaders and managers, policing standards and policy professionals, policing focused researchers, and students with interest in criminal justice and police psychology an opportunity to learn about practices that can increase the impact of police officer actions.
A second goal is to guide change in the work environment of police officers to facilitate quality work performance, psychological health, and job satisfaction.
Topics will include police response to mental health call for service and the role of crisis intervention competencies and co-responding mental health clinicians; police response to intimate partner violence and risk appraisal for mitigating future harm, as well as effective investigative interviewing practices and how to maximize skill retention.
In addition, this conference will include themes centered on the psychological health of police officers and the factors that impact it at both the employee and organizational level, and will discuss supervisory and management practices that enhance/detract from officer performance and job satisfaction.
