The third conference of the Global Collaboration in Evidence Based Policing returns in 2027 with three days of in-person conferencing from 20–22 April 2027 in Melbourne, Australia.

This year’s conference theme, ‘EPIC’ – Evidence-based, Problem Oriented, Intelligence Enabled for Community Safety, brings together three complementary disciplines in a single event for the first time. The conference reflects the broader thinking required to address today’s complex frontline policing challenges and provides an opportunity to share practical strategies, innovative research and proven approaches that support prevention-focused policing and deliver real operational impact.

Evidence-Based Policing (EBP) continues to grow globally, ensuring policing strategy, operations and tactics are informed by data, evidence and research. Rather than relying on assumptions, tradition or convention, EBP combines the knowledge, skills and experience of policing professionals with data-led research, crime science, problem-solving and rigorous testing to identify what works and improve decision making.

The 2027 conference will focus on:

  • Leadership, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
  • Serious Organised Crime and Drugs
  • Cyber Crime and AI
  • Violence Reduction
  • Targeting Retail Crime, Youth Crime and Gangs
  • Reducing Counter Terrorism Risk
  • Creating and Maintaining Gender Diversity
  • Improving the Health and Wellbeing of Our People
  • Managing Demand
  • Recruitment and Retention

The conference will be held at Deakin University Downtown in Melbourne’s CBD and will feature inspiring keynote presentations, case studies and practical sessions delivered by leading policing practitioners, researchers and experts from Australia and around the world.
